The Twin Bed Edit
Guest bedrooms are one of the best spaces in a home to add a bit of fun that you may not want to commit to in the main rooms. If it’s right for your room, a pair of twin beds can be a great place to start the furniture plan. Here are some of my favorites for Summer ‘24. Click on each image to request information.
There are a few things that explain why a pair of twin beds in a guest room are so satisfying to look at:
The symmetry immediately makes the space easy on the eyes
There is an inherent nostalgia, (memories of grandma and grandpas house perhaps?)
Two beds means double the bedding! Extra cozy and especially luxurious!
Specifically in coastal settings, headboards are a great place to add in a woven texture. This can add a bit of interest to an otherwise neutral room and they are usually a safer bet in a kids space than an upholstered headboard. If you just want a little pop of coastal charm, a rattan headboard is the solution.
Maybe you are really wanting to add some personality to the room, a step up from a textured headboard is one that is creatively upholstered . Fun colored leathers, intricate patterns and sparkles of nailheads will make any guests smile when they enter the room. Pair that with an eye catching duvet, you have the beginnings of an especially playful guest room.
When I’m working with someone who’s considering two twin beds in a guest room, the most important thing to figure out is if they have a room big enough to handle that amount of furniture. The width of two twins is the equivalent of a king bed, so if you are working with a smaller guest room - twins may not be the right solution. However, if you have a lot of space and high ceilings, two tall twin beds will probably be better suited than two low headboards.
